Italian food for dummies

A couple of colleagues were pretty much excited by this restaurant in Ranelagh, the Bistro Bianconi, because of its wide selection of "authentic Italian dishes".

While going through the menu I can only ask myself: where the fuck is the italian food?!?

The whole menu is an insult to real Italian restaurants (and probably to the customers as well), going from garlic bread to seafood lasagne to end with butter fried "Mediterranean prawns".

The italian names are all there, just poorly mispelled, the actual thing is a mix of Irish, French and Spanish recipes and ingredients. Well maybe a couple of pizzas and dishes could be "saved" but that's all, the recipes are not just slightly adjusted to the local taste, are completely invented from scratch.

And who the fuck ever heard of Mexican cannelloni in Italy (not to mention in Mexico)?!?

This place could very well serve "Acqua e zucchero" (water with sugar) and "Panini alla merda" (panini with shit), stuff that nobody knows about and eat in Italy that the local customers would be be more than happy to buy, mainly because of their exotic names.

Let's stop here and add a touch of Italian: vaffanculo.

Edit: An Italian friend of mine commented: "After reading the menu i felt the urge to puke".

unfortunately that one isnt the only restaurant that behave like that, the Italian names/colors are put everywhere for commercial reasons and only an Italian can recognize the mistakes..

I completely agree with u: vaffanculo

Euro. Me li immagino i sempliciotti irlandesi commentare...this food is gorgeous...

That happened to me many times.
Especially while I was working in Romania.
And the Italian names for the dishes were horribly spelled as well (worse than andima spelling)

But I must admit that Italo-Irish restaurants are the worse ever!

My dear Irish friends. please keep eating potatoes and onions.

And vaffanculo from Bacco as well

Thanks

Bacco

P.S. Greek salad sounds pretty Italian. isn't it?

Mai provata la tipica Lasagna Italian Style server with Fries and salad?
